I agree. I am all about advocating for the rights of marginalized people, but that doesn’t mean accepting all behaviors and/or beliefs of members of that marginalized group. Every group of people has certain dysfunctional behaviors and beliefs — trans people are not going to be an exception to the rule. Why would they? They’re just as human as the rest of us.
I find some people in the LGBTQ community spending A LOT of time thinking about gender, just obsessing over gender and the role it plays in one’s life. Understandable, because they have to deal with a tremendous amount of discrimination around these issues, but if one spends too much time obsessing over any one issue, inevitably it’s going to become unhealthy.
If someone is taking it too far, they need to receive that feedback, from someone who cares about them. Someone who they will receive the feedback from.
