And so when the man pulled up, with the truck, I went into the storehouse and waited patiently inside.
As he entered, he was shocked of course. he had never seen anyone inside.
“Oh! Hello…are you…do you…is this your food?”
I didn’t quite no how to answer him..was it? Kind of…but there was also Jesus…the energy box…the miracles…no way to explain it, really. So I said,
“Um, kind of, it’s a long story.”
“Well…this is…just incredible. I am so very thankful for all of this fresh produce. “
“Yes, I see that you stop by everyday and load up your truck-”
“Well, it’s not all for me…and I’m not selling it, in case that’s what you think. I’m taking it to people who need it.”
He assured me nervously.
“Oh, it’s no problem…I’m glad you’re doing this. That’s what it’s here for. It has to be given away.”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s such a crazy story. You wouldn’t believe me, if I told you.”
“Well, you have so much to spare…just look at this place…from the outside it looks like a little shack…but once you step inside!”
“It’s huge in here. So much food. You can feed so many people; and people are hungry. People are in need of this amazingly fresh and good food!”
“Yes, I think that’s the point. We’re here to help one another, to give to one another. So I’m glad you come by to load up your truck, tell others about this, anyone who needs food let them know it’s here.”
He looked at me cautiously. Like he was thinking very carefully about what to say next.
“Well…I know a lot of people who need food. But it’s a matter of how to get it to them…I try to get as much to as many in need as I can, but…there’s only so much time…and so much space in my truck.”
“Yeah, depending on how much food you need, I see how it could be problematic.”
I wondered who he was feeding. He seemed like he was speaking of organizations. So I asked him,
“Do you work for a nonprofit? Are you trying to feed the homeless? Or maybe you run a food pantry?”
“Something like that. Several food pantries actually.”
“Oh my boss…my boss will like that a lot! I’m glad the food is going where it;s needed.”
“Everyday, I make at least 10 stops…and you know the really magical think about it? I never run out of food…never! I mean no matter how much I unload…the food is always there. The truck becomes like magic with that food!”
Now this was interesting!
“What happens with your truck?”
“Well, when I make my first stop, and I unload the truck, it’s like this truck becomes endless. I unload, say three baskets of corn, there are still six more…then I unload three more baskets of corn, and then there are still nine more!”
“Really? That’s amazing.”
It was like the garden itself. It just went on endlessly, no matter how much got harvested, there was always more, to be harvested. It never ran out…never. Just endless abundance.
“Yes…and when I stop at to unload, just a quarter of the truck, I end up unloading about 10 truckloads of food!”
“Wow! That is so incredible! It’s like the garden…do you want to take a look at the garden?”
“I would love to look at the garden!”
“Well come on back, my name is Amli by the way.”
“I am Willem.”
“It’s nice to meet you Willem.”
We walked back into my backyard that was only supposed to be a quarter acre, but just went on and on and on as far as the eye could see.
“How is this possible? How can such an incredible space like this exist? It doesn’t seem to end!”
“I know. It’s like infinity. I’m not sure Willem…if I told you how this came to be, you may or may not believe me…but it’s not from me…it’s just coming through me…I’m the messenger. I’m just trying to get this food to whoever needs it.”
Willem looked like he was really struggling with whether or not to tell me what was on his mind.
“Willem, if you need help with something…getting this food to where it needs to be…I might be able to help.”
I guess he decided that he could trust me.
“I am taking the food to safe houses…I can’t just trust anyone…not even you. I have to be discreet. I am trying to keep these people safe.”
“Safe from what? The virus?” I was confused.
“No…certain kinds of officials. They’re like the Gestapo…relentless. Once they lock in on target, no one in the family is safe. It’s horrible what has been done to these people. They have to go into hiding, just to stay alive…and most of them haven’t done anything other than be here. If they came here very young, of course this is their home.”
Oh…he was helping immigrants being tracked by ICE. Immigrants in hiding. He was delivering food to them.
“Oh. I see. There just aren’t enough trucks…not enough yous.”
“No. Because you have so much food here…and it is so needed…it could help so many…I want to get the food where it is needed. But I can’t figure out how to solve it. I can’t trust just anyone with these deliveries.”
“No you can’t. I know I wouldn’t.”
And these safe houses are all over the country. Even though, in about a week, I can get to all the Safe Houses around here…but I keep thinking about the ones I know are 10 or 20 miles up the road…either way.”
“Yes. That presents quite the dilemma. If we started trying to ship the food to all of those places…well, of course we’d be noticed.”
“I’m afraid of being noticed as it is. If the authorities realized what I was doing, they will come for me. It’s happened before. It’s dangerous even to try and help.”
I thought about it. I replied,
“Maybe, we can find a work around.”
I still didn’t understand how the energy box worked. It did not seem to have any sorts of limits, at least not when it came to producing the food. But…we still were working with the limits of time and space.
I surely didn’t understand, how to work around that.
So I said,
“Willem…I don’t know how to solve this problem…but…I know someone who might be able to help us. Come back tomorrow. He will help with this…he specifically asked about you.”
“He asked about me?”
Willem asked in a panic!
“Oh, it’s fine. He only wants to help.”
“Who is he?”
I responded, plainly, “Jesus.”
